The 14U, 16U, 17U and Labor Day Cups are open-invitation tournaments composed of 64 teams. The 14U, 16U and 17U Cups will be comprised of 16 teams each. The Labor Day Cup will be comprised of eight 16U teams and eight 18U teams based off the 2014 age determinations. Each team is guaranteed four games, weather permitting. The events will be held in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex from July 5-7 (16U Cup), July 12-14 (14U Cup), July 19-21 (17U Cup) and Aug. 31-Sept. 2 (Labor Day Cup). USA Baseball will award 64 teams the right to participate based on an application approval process. The timely submission of complete application information and the receipt of appropriate fees are essential to registration.

14U Cup information

When: July 12-14, 2013

Roster Limits: Minimum of 15 players, maximum of 25 players
Age Limit: May 1, 1998 (earliest birthdate of eligible participant)
Bat Rules:  BBCOR bats only
Schedule: Minimum of four scheduled games -- weather permitting 
Cost: $1,000 ($300 deposit due with application and $700 team fee due by May 14, 2013)

Application Process

Due to the popularity of these events, USA Baseball will receive many more applications than spaces available for the USA Baseball Cup events. It is not first come, first serve. However, the sooner your team applies, the better its chances of ultimate acceptance. All completed applications (online registration accompanied by a $300 deposit in the form of either a check received at our offices in Durham, N.C., or a credit card* charged online) submitted by the deadline of May 3 will be reviewed, and teams will either be accepted or wait-listed in the following days. Deposit checks will not be cashed, and credit cards will not be charged until the team is accepted into the final tournament field. Deposits for accepted teams are refundable until May 14. Labor Day Cup deposits are refundable until July 5.

*Credit card charges will include a 5 percent convenience fee.

Once accepted, teams must submit the remaining fee as well as a roster with a maximum of 25 players (minimum of 15) and a maximum of five coaches or adult personnel to USA Baseball no later than May 14. After May 14, each team will have the right to make a maximum of two roster changes by June 4. Labor Day Cup teams will have a roster deadline of July 31 and can make up to two roster changes until Aug. 14.
