CHICAGO, Ill. - In the final matchup of the USA Baseball 2016 17U National Team Development Program week, Team Stars used two big innings to finish the four-game series sweep over Team Stars with a 12-2 victory on Friday at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

The Stars got on the board early to set the tone for the afternoon. Luis Tuero (Miami, Fla.) led off the bottom of the first with a walk and scored the games first run for the Stars on an Elijah Cabell (Winter Park, Fla.) triple to right field. Cabell then scored on an Isaiah Thomas (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) RBI single.

With the bases loaded and one out, the Stars extended its first inning lead to 4-0 on a two-RBI single to right field by Gage Workman (Queen Creek, Ariz.).

Both teams traded outs for the next four innings before Charlie Loust's (San Clemente, Calif.) double to left field in the sixth inning, scoring Justin-Henry Malloy (Bergenfield, N.J.) and stretching the Stars lead to five runs.

The Stripes responded in the seventh with its only two runs of the game when Riley Greene (Oviedo, Fla.) doubled to left field to score Brice Turang (Corona, Calif.) and Branden Boissiere (Riverside, Calif.) to cut its deficit to three runs. But, the hot-hitting Stars' immediately put the game out of reach, scoring two and five runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings, respectively.

Tuero tallied a two-RBI single in the seventh inning and Loust started the eighth off with a single to right. With runners on first and third with no outs, Sean Mullen (Bakersfield, Calif.) singled to left field to score Loust to put the score at 8-2. Thomas Burbank (Beaumont, Texas) later fired a two-RBI triple to center field that scored Workman and Austin Schultz (Adams, Neb.).

Tuero's sacrifice fly to center field scored the 11th Stars run of the afternoon before Cabell smacked a triple to right field and later scored the final run on a Thomas single to center field.
