
The U.S. jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after Justin Smoak, Tiffee and Pedro Alvarez each drove in a run off Canada starter Chris Begg.
Lucas May led off the second inning with a home run to deep left in his first plate appearance for the U.S., pushing the lead to 4-0. Team USA collected two more runs in the third inning behind RBI singles from Tiffee and Josh Kroeger to push the score to 6-0.
The U.S. bullpen allowed five runs over the final four innings of the game to bring the score to 6-5, but Jason Childers came on to pitch a scoreless ninth to secure the win and his first save of the series.
Team USA and Team Canada will face off in the fourth and final game of their pre-World Cup exhibition series on Sunday, Sept. 6, at the USA Baseball National Training Complex. First pitch is slated for 5:00 PM ET. Cory Luebke is slated to start on the mound for the U.S.
