Thank you very much for your interest in USA Baseball and the 2012 USA Baseball 14U, 15U and 17U Championships! Through these Championships, USA Baseball will now be able to provide an opportunity for nearly 300 teams to showcase their ability against teams from all across the country as well as provide opportunities for players to be considered for both the 15U National Team and 14U and 17U National Team Development Programs.
The 14U, 15U and 17U Championships - West will be held in Glendale, Peoria & Goodyear, Ariz. (14U: 48 teams/15U: 52 teams/17U: 72 teams), the 17U Championship - East will be held in Palm Beach County, Fla. (72 teams), and the 15U Championships - East will find its home in Ft. Myers, Fla. (36 teams). The 14U East Championships will take place in Cary, N.C.
West: July 1-6, 2012; East: July 10-15, 2012
Where: The East Championships will be in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex and Middle Creek Park. The West Championships will be in Glendale, Peoria & Goodyear, Ariz., at the Spring Training homes of the White Sox/Dodgers, Padres/Mariners & Indians/Reds.
Roster Limits: Minimum of 15 players, maximum of 22 players
Age Limit: May 1, 1997 (oldest birth date of eligible participant)*
National Team Development Program Exposure: Minimum of 18 players will be invited to the 14U National Team Development Program**
Schedule: Minimum of six scheduled games, weather permitting; four pool-play games guaranteed
Cost: $2,000** ($500 deposit due with application and $1,500 team fee due by May 24, 2012)
* Players born May 1, 1997, or later are eligible to compete in the 14U Championships. Please note, however, that only players born Jan. 1, 1998, or later will be eligible to be selected to the 14U National Team Development Program. As such, USA Baseball requires that at least six players on each team's roster be born on or after this international age cutoff (1998).
** Hotel Information: Teams that use USA Baseball's free housing service, USA Baseball Travel Services, will be eligible to receive a $500 rebate check. To qualify for the $500 rebate check, teams must accumulate at least 25 room nights (i.e. five rooms for five nights, etc). The USA Baseball 14U Championships will serve as a vehicle to select a minimum of 18 players for the overall pool of 40 players to compete in the 14U National Team Development Program to be held Aug. 3-9 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C. The 2012 USA Baseball 15U National Team will be selected primarily from the pool of more than 2,400 participants in the USA Baseball 15U Championships. A minimum of 34 out of the 40 total invites to the 2012 USA Baseball 15U National Team Trials will come from the Championships. The final 15U National Team will be selected out of the Trials, which will be held at a TBD time and location later in the summer, before the team competes internationally in the IBAF 'AA' World Championships.
