CARY, N.C. -- USA Baseball announced the 20-man roster for its 2012 15U National Team on Thursday following a five-day trial period held at the National Training Complex (NTC) in Cary, N.C.

The team will continue to train at the NTC from Aug. 10-11, before departing for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, for a four-game series consisting of four teams: USA Baseball's 15U National Team, two teams consisting of July 2, 2013 eligible players from the Dominican Republic and one team from Puerto Rico.

"We are excited to bring together prospects from the Dominican Republic, the United States, and Puerto Rico, just as we have in past ventures with players from Canada and Venezuela," said Kim Ng, Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations for Major League Baseball.

The final 20-man roster for the inaugural 15U National Team will remain in Cary for two days after selections are announced which will include equipment distribution, autograph signings and a photo shoot for their official Panini America baseball cards and on the last night at the NTC they will host a Youth Clinic benefiting The Miracle League.

"We are excited to transition into the new age group," said 15U National Team Director, Jeff Singer. "It was a little disappointing to find out we weren't going to compete in the official IBAF World Championships, but we are extremely excited for the series we will be playing in the Dominican Republic. This is a very quick turnaround for our team between final selections and our first game, but we have a lot of confidence in the group of players that we have selected to represent USA Baseball as its 15U National Team."

Among the final 20 players selected are eight alumni from the 2011 14U National Team which include: Nick Madrigal, Isaak Gutierrez, Nico Hoerner, John Aiello, Luken Baker, Chris Betts, Chris Cullen and Bailey Falter. Also with ties to USA Baseball are Parker Kelly and Cole Sands whose older brothers have played for USA Baseball in the past. Kelly's older brother, Carson, played on the 2010 16U National Team and 2011 18U National Team, while Sands' older brother, Carson, played on the 2011 16U National Team and is currently on the 18U National Team Trials roster.
