CARY, N.C. -- The Red team scored three runs in the eighth inning to complete its comeback from a 7-1 deficit in the final Red-Blue game of the 17U National Team Development Program.

After falling behind, 1-0, in the second inning, the Blue team exploded for four runs in the third on RBI singles from Marvin Gorgas, Jakson Reetz and Joseph Dunand. In the following inning, the Blue team wasn't finished offensively. Brandon Elmy drove in Chase Avant with an RBI single, and Gorgas added two more RBIs to his tally with his second single of the game.

Trailing 7-1 in the sixth inning, the Red team began its comeback with a four-run inning. Dale Burdick got the scoring started for Red with an RBI single to left field, and Derek Hill followed up by driving in Shane Timmons and Burdick with a two-run single. The fourth run of the inning came when Gorgas was unable to handle a tough ground ball off the bat of Josh Morgan.

Red completed its comeback in the eighth inning by putting up three more runs. Chance Sisco singled home Derek Hill, Bobby Dalbec drove in Sisco with a triple to the wall in right field, and Max Wotell drove in the go-ahead run with a looping single to shallow right field.

Lucas Herbert pitched the final two innings for Red and picked up the win, as he didn't allow a run and gave up two hits.

The middle of the lineup for Red gave the team great production as Hill, Sisco and Dalbec each had two hits and at least one RBI.

Along with Gorgas' standout performance for Blue, Joseph Dunand, Michael Reed and Nathan Rodriguez each added two hits, as well.

The 17U NTDP officially comes to a close early Thursday morning with player departures.
