With his team trailing, 2-0, Dominic Taccolini took over in relief and willed Team USA past Venezuela, 3-2. The right-hander struck out eight over six scoreless innings and held Venezuela in check until Cavan Biggio hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the eighth.

The USA Baseball 18U National Team never found its swing against Chinese Taipei as it fell, 7-2, in Taichung, Taiwan. TPE jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and USA was unable to climb back.

18U: Rain washes out USA's 2-0 lead
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, and the USA leading, 2-0, the skies opened up, ending an afternoon of baseball in Taichung, Taiwan. According to international rules, the game reverts back to the last completed inning, giving the teams a 0-0 tie after five complete.

Playing its first exhibition game as a 27-man roster, the 18U National Trials Team used outstanding pitching and timely extra-base hits to take care of the Los Angeles Dodgers Scout Team, 11-2, at Dodger Stadium. Game one of the 2012 Prospect Classic ended in a, 2-2, tie after the Stripes rallied from a two-run deficit with runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Managed by Jack McKeon and Terry Francona, the mix of college and 18U players delivered a solid performance on the field, ending with a 2-2 tie after seven innings.
