USA to play NECBL All-Stars in N.H.
The New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and USA Baseball announced today that the 2009 USA Baseball National Team will face off against the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Stars at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Sunday, July 5, at 2:45pm.

Team USA rounds out Classic roster
USA Baseball today announced that pitchers Heath Bell of the San Diego Padres and John Grabow of the Pittsburgh Pirates have been added to the Team USA World Baseball Classic spring training roster. The two additions come on the heels of three other roster moves announced Monday afternoon.

Breakthrough Series introduced
Major League Baseball has collaborated with USA Baseball to sponsor the inaugural Breakthrough Series at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, California, during the week of July 21, 2008. The event is designed to showcase rising high school junior and senior baseball players from urban areas throughout the United States who have not participated in other travel and high-end tournaments, giving the players considerable exposure.

International tiebreaker rule announced
The International Baseball Federation announced today that it is introducing an extra-inning tie-breaker format that will be tested at a youth event this week and implemented officially in the baseball competition at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Mueller new chair of Medical/Safety
USA Baseball announced Thursday that Dr. Fred Mueller has been named as the Chairman of the organization's prestigious Medical/Safety Advisory Committee. Mueller assumes the leadership of the committee subsequent to the passing of Dr. Barry Goldberg in late September of 2007. Goldberg worked with Yale University and served as the Committee Chair since its inception in 1993.
